Local Species-At-Risk

The term “species-at-risk” means an extirpated species, an endangered species, a threatened species or a species of special concern, that is listed in the Federal or Provincial Species at Risk Acts. There are many local species-at-risk who call the Petitcodiac River watershed home, and the PWA has many projects targeting these species. Here are some notable species who can be found on the Government of New Brunswick’s List of Species at Risk. an asterisk (*) indicates the species is local to our watershed, and the double asterisk (**) indicates that the PWA has a project related to the species:

EXTIRPATED SPECIES
“extirpated species” means a wildlife species that no longer exists in the wild in the Province, but exists elsewhere in the wild:
